From News Center (Text by Huang Jianxia, School of International Education; Photo by Huang Jianxia and Feng Ziyuan, School of International Education) To enhance fire safety awareness among international students and improve their self-rescue and mutual aid abilities in case of a fire emergency, as well as to create a safe and stable international campus environment, on December 18, 2025, a fire emergency drill for international students from Asia and Africa was meticulously organized. The event was hosted by the Armed Forces Department (Security Office) of the CPC LZPU Committee and the School of International Education, with support from the Logistics and Infrastructure Office and Xinzhuzhang Property Management Company. Over 100 international students from 30 countries, including Indonesia, Afghanistan, and Cameroon, actively participated in the drill, learning fire safety knowledge and mastering escape skills through hands-on practice.

The drill was divided into two parts: evacuation and firefighting practice. Upon hearing the alarm, international students quickly covered their noses and mouths under the guidance, followed the designated safe evacuation routes, and evacuated in a low, fast, and orderly manner to the safety area in the square in front of the building. Mr. Qin Jiayun from the Security Office provided on-site explanations about fire prevention, initial fire fighting, correct reporting procedures, and fire escape key points. The professionals demonstrated the correct usage of dry powder fire extinguishers with the steps: "lift, pull, grip, and press". The international students took turns operating the fire extinguishers to put out simulated fires. Mike, a student from Burkina Faso, expressed, "We are grateful to our teachers for thinking of teaching us these skills. Learning to use a fire extinguisher will help us protect ourselves and others in similar situations in the future."

This drill was not only a vivid safety education session but also a cross-cultural exchange of safety culture, helping international students truly integrate into the campus safety culture system. It has laid a solid foundation for the creation of a safe, harmonious, and international campus environment. In the future, LZPU will continue to innovate formats, regularly carry out various safety education activities, and strengthen the campus safety firewall for all faculty and students, including international students.
